First Step Cycle has partnered with Modeshift STARS in Hull to offer the best in sustainable active travel planning to the children of our local schools. Modeshift offers schools a range of accreditation levels for their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint by encouraging active and sustainable travel across your school.
Signing up is easy. Register your interest and First Step Cycle can help you deliver a range of action plans according to your site audit and travel surveys. With Modeshift Stars Education we work with our partner schools to improve pedestrian skills. Sign up for Ped Skills with Modeshift and not only will your pupils be learning safety skills for walking to and from schools, it will put them in good stead for independent travel later in their school career.
Our instructors can take your lower Key Stage 2 pupils through the necessary pedestrian skills programme that is fully funded by Hull City Council. We will be working with pupils to embed the 6 rules of the Green Cross Code into their regular journeys with practical scenarios on how, when, and where to cross roads safely. Workbooks that need to be completed before practical sessions can be circulated by our instructors.
A solid introduction to pedestrian skills is vital for Bikeability. In years 5 and above, they will find they have already developed some of the introductory practical skills, judgement, and awareness to keep themselves safe in various types of active travel.
Contact our team and we will work personally with you to make advanced arrangements, discussing the structure of the day and any equipment necessary for safety precautions. With all the information to plan your event, we can draw up a risk assessment, organise hi-vis vests for all teachers and trainees and go through guidelines necessary for COVID-19 safety.
Modeshift STARS Education with First Step Cycle can improve journeys all around your school, encouraging healthy habits, safer travel, and respect for the local environment.
