What is it?

Protect pupils at your school from the dangers of crossing busy roads and develop key safety skills by offering a fully funded Basic Pedestrian Skills Training Course from First Step Cycle. On behalf of the Road Safety Department of Hull City Council, First Step Cycle offers Pedestrian Skills Training to all school children in Years 3 & 4.

The training consists of four individual 1hr lessons designed to provide children with a comprehensive knowledge of the Green Cross Code by using fun, interactive activity books coinciding with practical, visual, and auditory learning. The four sessions are split into two theory and two practical lessons.

Hands-on, practical, fun, and engaging, Pedestrian Skills are a great introduction to road safety and help to develop useful precursor skills that will prepare pupils for Bikeability courses.

Who delivers the training?

The first two lessons are taught by the class teacher using the learning resources provided by Hull City Council and First Step Cycle. The final two practical lessons are held on the surrounding roads and are delivered by one qualified instructor from First Step Cycle, along with your own teaching staff.
