4 day Cycle Course – National standard Instructor (NSI)

We are pleased to announce our 4 day National standard Instructor Course, will take place from Monday 21st August – Thursday 24th August at the following venue.

The Bloc, 38 Springfield Way, Anlaby, Hull, HU10 6RJ for just £495 (includes post course assessment).

The 4 day course is a mixture of classroom-based learning and practical activities to demonstrate competence in each of the 3 levels of the National Cycle Training Standards. Participants who successfully complete this part of the course will receive a provisional pass towards full accreditation.

The course includes:

  • Introduction to the National Standard
  • Theory of Level 1, 2 and 3 Bikeability
  • Planning Bikeability sessions
  • Delivery methods for Level 1, 2 and 3 Bikeability
  • Conducting a Bike, Helmet and Clothing check
  • Evaluating Bikeability sessions
  • Providing feedback and motivation
  • Managing groups effectively
  • Moving trainees in groups
  • Conducting effective risk assessment
  • Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • Signposting trainees to further cycling opportunities
  • One-to-one feedback from an experienced tutor
  • Optional bike hire for duration of course

After completing the course, learners should work with an existing Bikeability scheme that is capable of mentoring you whilst you develop as an instructor. You must decide when you think you are ready for a Post Course Assessment however this should be done within six months of completing your course. You will be visited by one of our Assessors, who will assess you against National Standard criteria. Upon successful completion, you will become a fully qualified Instructor.
